Skills Needs Anticipation and Matching
ILO, ETF and Cedefop course. The course aims to provide participants with a good understanding of drivers of change which impact skills demand and realise why imbalances occur on the labour market and their consequences. It will also help participants understand the critical milestones, questions, objectives and components of labour market information (LMI), institutional roles and responsibilities. The course is intended for providers, users and target groups of anticipating skill needs for the labour market. Participants will learn about quantitative and qualitative methods, tools for skill needs anticipation and matching supply and demand of skills on the labour market. Systems of early identification of skill needs will be dealt with in a wider context of labour market information and intelligence, and related institutional frameworks.

SRI LANKA EMPLOYERS’ SYMPOSIUM 2014 “BREAKING BARRIERS FOR BETTER WORKPLACES”
The Employers’ Federation of Ceylon (EFC) celebrates its 85th anniversary this year. The EFC was set up in 1929 as an Organization that would have the expertise to give advice to Employers in maintaining better relationships within the workplace. Today, human capital is considered as the most vital asset of an Enterprise. Therefore, maintaining excellent relationships at the workplace between Management and employees is imperative. In doing so, we need to eradicate all barriers that would be obstacles towards this end. In keeping with this objective, the EFC will conduct its 3rd annual Symposium on 2nd and 3rd October 2014 at the Waters Edge, Battaramulla on the theme “Breaking barriers for better workplaces”.

Academy on Skills Development
The International Training Centre of the ILO and the ILO Skills and Employability Programme, in cooperation with a variety of international development agencies, is offering a two weeks international Academy on Skills Development. The purpose of the Academy is to stimulate learning and knowledge exchange on policies, challenges and options for building effective, responsive and inclusive skills development systems and to analyze some of the latest trends in Skills Development and TVET. The programme reflects the principles and recommendations of the ILO-G20 Training Strategy “A Skilled Workforce for Strong, Sustainable and Balanced Growth”. The Academy is aimed primarily at participants from developing and middle-income countries.

National Conference on Meeting Today's and Tomorrow's Skills Needs (Vietnam)
Organized by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), in cooperation with the ILO. The main purpose of the conference is to bring together key stakeholders, including representatives of government, private sectors, workers' organizations, and development partners to discuss: i) the current situation, challenges and opportunities for skills development in Viet Nam ; ii) how best to bridge the gap between the training sector and the world of work with reference to international experiences and good practices in Viet Nam, and iii) recommendations for the legal and institutional reforms with a focus on the ongoing revision of the Law on Vocational Training.
ILO/Regional Skills Programme/Japan Regional Workshop and Study Programme on "Improving Skills and Employability for Youth Employment"
This workshop will help the participants explore practical work place learning schemes, internships and on-the-job schemes that can assist young people in transitioning from school to employment. This workshop is designed to provide opportunities for participating countries to: share global trends and good practices in assisting young people obtain decent employment; identify the role of skills in promoting youth employment; share country experiences on workplace learning schemes and internships; identify the key elements to be included in a generic skills portfolio for youth; and identify the role of employers’ and workers’ organizations in guiding youth and improving their skills and employability in general, and in developing and promoting workplace learning schemes, in particular.
“Academy on Skills Development” Skills and TVET for improved productivity, employment growth and development

4th ASEM Labour and Employment Ministers’ Conference.
The fourth ASEM Labour and Employment Ministers' Conference will be hosted by Viet Nam on 24 - 26 October 2012 in Hanoi. The theme of the Conference is "Employment and Social Protection - A key to Sustainable and Inclusive Growth". The Conference will be preceded by an ASEM Social Partners Forum on 24 October 2012 with the participation of worker and employer organizations from ASEM members and relevant international agencies.
