The survey collected statistics on the prevalence, nature, duration and cause of disability. Statistics were collected for children (0 to 14 years) and adults living in households, and for adults living in residential facilities. For disabled people living in households, further information was collected on services and assistance received or needed, special equipment used or needed, and barriers encountered in everyday life in the areas of employment (for adults 15 years and over), education, transport and accommodation. For disabled people living in residential facilities, information was collected on assistance received and use of equipment.
ILO News, Dhaka, 14 December 2013 - The European Union Ambassador to Bangladesh William Hanna yesterday handed certificates to a group of the total 8000 apprentices across Bangladesh who recently completed skilled apprenticeships. Just three years ago, there were only 98 apprentices registered under the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET). Introducing apprenticeships and their up scaling has been a key initiative of the TVET Reform Project, supported by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and funded by the European Union (EU).
