UNESCO - 2012. "To ensure the high quality of technical and vocational education and training in Lao PDR, a quality assurance (QA) system was introduced by the government in 2008. The Educational Standards and Quality Assurance Centre (ESQAC), the lead agency in monitoring and overseeing the QA process, was established within the Ministry of Education in the same year. ESQAC is responsible for improving the country’s knowledge base on education and provides advice on ongoing educational initiatives, practices and investments."

UNGEI - 2012. "UNGEI welcomes the GMR 2012 focus on skills development for marginalized groups, including girls and young women. It is particularly timely considering the structural changes in the global economy, the geopolitics of offshore production, the growth of the service sector and the changes wrought by the ongoing global financial crisis. What this paper clearly indicates is that while there is a lack of reliable information and statistics to analyse the impact of these forces on girls and young women, especially those from marginalized groups, there is a near absence of well-documented and evaluated interventions and strategies to address skills development among marginalized youth. Much more research is needed on gender and skills development, employment and integration in the global economy, and women’s empowerment."

ILO - 2012. This research brief is a digest of the study Skills and Occupational Needs
in Green Building (ILO, 2011), which resulted from a joint EC-ILO project
on Knowledge sharing in early identification of skill needs. The project
covered over 30 countries worldwide – both developed and developing.
It was supported by the EU Programme for Employment and Social
Solidarity – PROGRESS (2007-2013) and implemented in the framework
of the Green Jobs Initiative – a partnership between the ILO, UNEP, IOE
and ITUC. The study draws on a number of country case studies and
a survey of ILO constituents including governments, employers’ and
workers’ organisations. The findings were validated through a focus group
discussion and an experts workshop.
